TOP 3 Reasons why Teenagers Rebel

Anywhere we go, we encounter news about gang violence, theft, out of school youth, young couples, teenage single-parent and such. Nowadays, there are so many cases of rebellious children mostly of ages 13 to 18. There can be many reasons why teenagers neglect and disobey and eventually lose the right track in life. I will be sharing the following reasons because I have seen and witnessed them. It's not me, but my peers and acquaintances who were so unfortunate for not being able to handle life's injustices and difficulties.

Below are my TOP 3 Reasons why Teenagers rebel.

Broken Family

Many people believe that family has great contribution in a person's development of traits and characteristics. Oftentimes, as a child, we tend to imitate the words, actions, gestures , way of speaking and interpreting that our parents or older siblings do. It is commonly known as adaptation or learning. A child raised with a broken family that's always fighting, talking about the father's other women, or the mother's unreasonable attitude, will be likely to keep away the distance from the family and just focus on diversional activities such as going out with friends, partners or even newly-met buddies. In order to catch the family's attention, the child will try to do everything possible, even if it's good or bad, just to feel love and belongingness.

Lack of Attention

Commonly, this attitude can be manifested by the middle child - 2nd Child Syndrome. Because of being in the middle, child feels to be neglected and always second-best. They seek attention from their parents, the same attention that the parents gave to the first-born and the youngest child of the family. Some may engage in stupid activities while others excel in academics or sports. But a big fraction of those who chose to do silly things weren't able to come back and retrieve themselves. Thus, ending up as a violent gang member, theft or a bum.

Abused

I'm disgusted with parents who abuse their children in any way - raped, molested, brutality, exploited, etc. In any part of the world, we may hear about these kinds of child ill-treatment. Having trauma derived from any of the given cruelty, will affect the mentality, perception and adaptation of a child. Some can survive while some others can't. Some just pull out their defense mechanisms superficial and become rebellious and stiff.

There are countless reasons why a child might turn rebel. It is imperative for parents to monitor your child, know what they feel, talk to them often about what's happening to them, how they feel and what their dreams are. It's a way of showing you care for them and that you are always ready to be their guide until they can do it on their own.
